Guwahati: At least three persons were died and 99 injured including 22 children and 27 women after consuming illicit liquor in Assam's Jorhat district, officials said.

Tea garden labourers of Dholi tea garden in the upper Assam district felt ill and vomiting on Tuesday night after consuming country made liquor which was sold illegally inside the garden.

The victims were immediately admitted at a local hospital and were later referred them Jorhat Medical College hospital.

"Two labourers were died on Tuesday night and another among the injured persons had succumbed his injuries in hospital, " a top police official said.

Condition of the injured persons including 25 children and 27 women had stated to be critical.

Jorhat police had arrested three people allegedly selling country made liquor without licence inside the tea estate.
