In a joint operation, the Jharkhand Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel arrested a Maoist in Giridih district.

The arrested Maoist, Kunwar Yadav, belongs to the Jharkhand Regional Bhakpa group and is booked under more than 24 cases of murder, arson, dacoit in Jharkhand and Bihar.

Yadav had come to Giridih to execute a crime, when acting on a tip-off the security personnel nabbed him.

"He has been involved in many cases in Giridih and Jamui districts. He is the commander of the zonal committee. A bounty of one million rupees is on his head. I congratulate all the members in the team, who conducted the raid," said Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Dwivedi.

The police have also recovered three cane bombs, detonators and other explosives from Yadav.

"The names of the police personnel, who successfully executed the operation, would be sent to the state government for rewards and recognition," he added.
