35-year-old Ramsinh Sangod, a farmer from Jharibhujhi village in Gujarat's Dahod district, said that if he and his wife Kanu, who is pregnant for the 16th time, would have another daughter then they would give it another try to have a son.

Although Kanu shares that her body is very weak, she says that she agreed to have more babies as her husband had threatened to marry again.

Ramsinh in his defence said that in their custom, a brother has a big role to play in the lives of his sisters. Although the couple had a son in 2013, he feels it would be best to have a second son who can share the load and can look after the family.

As per the 2011 census, Dahod has a child sex ratio of 948 girls per 1000 boys; in 2001, it was 967 per 1000.
