Guwahati: At least seven people including three children were killed and 21 others injured when lightning struck a boat, where they traveled by through the river Beki in Assam's Barpeta district on Saturday evening, officials said. A top police official of the lower Assam district said that, a total of 28 people including children and women of two villages Gogolmari and Santra traveled in a boat to Kandapara area by through the river Beki.
The incident took place at Milanbazar area when a lightning struck the boat. "Seven persons including three children were killed in the incident, " the police official said. The injured persons had rushed to Barpeta Medical college hospital.
