MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was on Wednesday arrested on the charge of violation of Model Code of Conduct and later released on bail in Bihar\'s Purnia district, an official said. Owaisi was allegedly making an election speech at a religious place when a police team from Baisi arrested him.

Purnia: MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was on Wednesday arrested on the charge of violation of Model Code of Conduct and later released on bail in Bihar's Purnia district, an official said. Owaisi was allegedly making an election speech at a religious place when a police team from Baisi arrested him.
Owaisi, however, denied that he had gone to the place for canvassing and claimed he went there only to offer prayers and not for campaigning. The MIM president was later released on bail on personal bond of Rs 10,000 after spending about an hour in the Baisi police station where he was questioned by the police.
