New Delhi : Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has this time taken into account the needs of all before finalising the budget proposals for fiscal 2016-17.

It is believed that this year's budget is better than last year's budget.

In his speech, it can be said that customer service and making rail travel more technically efficient were priorities.

According to Prabhu, the priority for the railways will be to Make in India and to promote Skill India.

Prabhu said that there was a need to fulfill Vision 2020 deadline, and in this regard, the speed of passenger trains has to be increased to an average of 80 km per hour.

"We are looking at ways to boost cost-optimisation this fiscal. We have overhauled age-old practices in procurement of equipment," he added.

He also announced that railway catering service IRCTC will be restructured.

Prabhu went on to say that LIC has agreed to invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore to fund railway projects. We propose to electrify 2000 km next year. 2500 water vending machines will be installed.

He added, In big stations, CCTV will be installed and women helpline number will be present.

He said at all major stations CCTV will be installed with Helpline for women. Railways have set a target of zero accidents. Whereas, CCTV for 311 stations have already been arranged.

On private and banking investment, Prabhu said, "Rail commuters are the soul of Indian Railways". Our top Priority is Security and safety of our passengers. We will provide Wi-Fi at all stations.

The Minister also announced that by 2020, every traveler will find the Conform ticket. Private investment in railways and connecting it with modern finances is a new initiative with expansion of the network it is really a good move under make in India.

He announced no hike in passenger fares,several customer-oriented services and measures like smart ticketing, re-imagine design of coaches, Propose to invite FM radio stations to provide train borne entertainment via PA systems, baby sitting facilities, including hot water and milk at stations, disable enabled toilets, and 33 percent reservation for women's within the reserved quota.

Concrete plans for network expansion, new experiment passenger amenities; high speed corridors will increase the likelihood of new investment by the special purpose vehicle. Ring Railway to be redeveloped in partnership with the Delhi government, he added.

He said that India's first rail auto hub is to come up in Chennai, and revealed that Rs.24000 crores worth of railway contracts were issued last year.
