Mr.Vijayakanth – The Hope, the Option or VP Singh

The announcement of the formation of new alliance under the leadership of Mr.Vijayakanth in Tamil Nadu for the coming assembly election has not only rattle the hope the two Dravidian major but also the Psephologists across the country to study and include Psychology of the electorate as well while predicting the poll outcome.

The new alliance is viewed by many in Tamil Nadu as new hope to people. It is the customary practice in Tamil Nadu that most of the smaller political parties always flock around either of the Dravidian major from the election after election to ensure either of the Dravidian major form Government in Tamil Nadu every alternate season. The above scenario has given less hope to people because they are left with a choice-less choice because the poll arithmetic alone will decide the result. So people can choose to support a party knowing well it will not win but they believe in its philosophy or chose the one which will win based on the poll arithmetic even if they do not vote for such alliance.

But today, Mr.Vijayakanth has brought a new hope to people of Tamil Nadu. The alliance is not seen just as hope but as the best option by many in Tamil Nadu because he is fresh, new and untested.

Many see such alliance under Vijayakanth not as compulsion politics of some small political parties for retaining identity but are much-needed alignment for people. Competition may although cause insecurity but will certainly foment performance and competence.

The option Mr.Vijayakanth has brought to people of Tamil Nadu is similar to that of VP Singh than Charan Sigh. VP Sigh has challenged the unchallengeable Rajiv Gandhi Government that had 411 MP’s in the parliament out of 542. Mr. VP Singh brought together the most no-agreeable parties to support him to form Government. He was the first to popularize the concept of coalition Government at centre. But unfortunately, the change he has brought in Indian politics he could not in administration or in the life of ordinary man and hence he became insignificant.

The new alliance lead by Mr.Vijayakanth should not be limited to bringing a change in Tamil Nadu politics but must bring decent change in the life of everyone who lives in Tamil Nadu. The new alliance should focus strictly on reforming the state by bringing revolution in education, health care delivery and the creation of more employment opportunity. From ‘mark’ and ‘caste’ based selection to ‘merit’ based selection in the education system and from providing faith-based health care system to providing scientifically proven an allopathic system of medicine to poor people in rural India must be practiced. Self-employment schemes and entrepreneurship must be catalyzed and augmented by the new Government if formed by Mr. Vijayakanth.

Although on arithmetic terms, each alliance partner of Mr.Vijayakanth may represent their small constituent, but together have brought new hope and option to entire Tamil Nadu.

Many people across the socioeconomic division and cast ratios welcome the new alliance formed under Mr.Vijayakanth.

Instead of mudslinging or verbal abuse, real and achievable promise the alliance of Mr.Vijayakanth must offer. The rich, the middle class and the poor in the society need protection and freedom and hence, the promise should not gravitate only towards one section of the society.

Who knows, Mr.Vijayakanth could be the VP Singh in Tamil Nadu politics.
