Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) will run a special superfast train from June 20 between Secunderabad and Vijayawada. The special train will be flagged off by Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu.

The superfast train has been sanctioned following a request by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, which would provide the much-needed relief to the employees and their families shifting from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and Guntur, as part of the relocation of state administration from Hyderabad.

According to official sources, overseeing the shifting of administration from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, the SCR would announce the timings and schedule of the special train on Sunday.

The special superfast train will leave Secunderabad station at 5.30 am and will reach Vijayawada by 11 am.
The train will stop at Mangalagiri and Guntur on its way to Vijayawada. The train on its return journey will leave Vijayawada at 5.30 pm en route with stops at Mangalagiri and Guntur and reach Secundrabad by 11 pm.

The train service to be launched on June 20 would run as a regular service from June 22, according to the officials.

Meanwhile, the new superfast train service is all set to become a hit among the employees who have not yet taken any rental accommodation. “The new train service has triggered plans among the employees as some of them are already planning to shuttle between Hyderabad and Vijayawada on a daily basis,” said an official from revenue department.

Otherwise too, the train service has come as a blessing to most of the employees who want to return to Hyderabad on weekends, since the government has agreed for a five-day week. “The Secretariat employees can board the train either at Mangalagiri or Guntur which are nearer to Velagapudi.

Employees of other HoD offices can board the same train at Vijayawada on Friday to reach Hyderabad to spend their weekends and return to Vijayawada in time for their duties on Monday, said another official from Municipal Administration and Urban Development.
