Mumbai: Approximately 7.5 million tones hazardous waste is generated every year which is mostly dumped on open ground & low lying areas. The waste goes on piling up everyday increasing the cost of waste management. A step towards resolving this issue to an extent has been taken by Wockhardt Foundation with a great mission of ‘Hoga Clean India’.
Wockhardt Foundation, a not-for-profit organization known for its committed service to the poor, weak, and needy, has installed the second Swachh Bharat Recycle machine at Churchgate station jointly with Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview. The first one was installed by Wockhardt Foundation last month together with Western Railway (WR) at Churchgate station.
Through Swachh Bharat Recycle machine the aim is committed to recycle every polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle that is thrown into waste. These machines have been designed to dispose and recover products effectively and are used for cost effective means for recycling and disposal of waste. With the amount of untreated waste growing at an alarming rate, Swachh Bharat Recycle machine is a necessity to support Prime Minister’s mission of ‘Swachh Bharat’.
Present for the launch were Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, Trustee & CEO, Wockhardt Foundation, CRF Chair Trustee PRIP Rtn. Kalyan Bannerjee and DG Gopal Mandhania.
Talking on the occasion Dr. Huz (Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala) Trustee & CEO, Wockhardt Foundation, said, “I am happy to support our Prime Minister’s mission of a ‘Swachh Bharat’ through our initiative. I would strongly urge the public to make use of this machine in helping making our initiative and this mission a success.”
