Panaji: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday booked Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly Chandrakant Kavlekar's wife, Savitri for abetting the crime in disproportionate assets case.

The ACB also conducted raids at Kavlekar's three residences and offices at various places, including the one in Betul.

The statement issued by the ACB said that Kavlekar has amassed wealth in the form of movable as well as immovable properties within and outside State of Goa.

"It was also revealed that Kavlekar has purchased around 14 different landed properties worth Crores of rupees in the State of Kerala. He has not even disclosed the details of properties purchased by him in the state of Kerala in his Asset 84 Liability Statement submitted before the Institution of Goa Lokayukta during the period from year 2013 to 2015," read the statement.

As per the statement, Kavlekar amassed disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 4,78,58,471, which was around 59.21 % above their known sources of income, during the check period from January 2007 to April 2013 when he was the chairman of the Goa industrial development corporation (GIDC).

He has booked under Section 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Earlier in the day, the ACB filed an FIR against Kavlekar in the said case.

In 2012, Goa Police had filed a case against Kavlekar under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act

Kavlekar is a three term member of the Goa Legislative Assembly and represents the Quepem constituency
