Delft Island (Sri Lanka) [India] : The Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 20 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu, along with two fishing trawlers for poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters, north and west of the Delft Island last night.

The apprehended fishermen were taken to the naval base, SLNS Uttara, in Kankesanthurai and handed over to the Jaffna Asst Director of Fisheries.

Further details are awaited.

The Sri Lankan Navy had, earlier on November 19, apprehended four Tamil Nadu fishermen and seized one boat near the Delft Island.
