The moment BJP's winning candidate Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India, he started the movement Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan on Gandhi Jayanthi.
He announced the grand vision of making India clean by 2019 and celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi, by paying floral tributes and achieving at least one of his goals.
But many wonder if the Swachch Bharat Mission was started with a good intention or merely a photo op for various celebrities from all walks of life. Many celebrities who do not even know how to hold a broom started sweeping for cameras and then nominating others.
The Opposition which is always looking for criticism is waiting for the mission to fail so that it can take the ambitious PM to task. People are even questioning what the Government is doing rather than inculcating the habit of keeping their surroundings clean. They are content with having their house clean and throw the garbage out in front of the roads.
Everyone should realise that PM Modi has many more important things to do like taking care of foreign policy, internal and external security of the country etc. Modi is not the first person to face such cricitism of starting and forgetting a program.
Mahatma Gandhi started the Swachch Bharat campaign in his village. Early morning, he and his followers would sweep the streets.
For some days he had been to other places to lead freedom movement and after return he found the entire street filled with garbage. More shock awaited when people came and questioned where did he disappear without cleaning the streets regularly.
Even the laxity of Municipal corporation is not to be ignored. Even after getting salaries they don't sweep streets or collect garbage from dust bins. They are arrogant and work as per their wish even after collecting monthly mamool from each house apart from their salary.
