Nizamabad: Police arrested eight engineering students in the district and recovered 22 motorcycles from them. Superintendent of Police K V Ramamohan Rao presented the arrested under-graduates at a press conference held at DSP office in Armoor on Monday. The arrested are identified as Srinivas, Bhavit Prasad, Naveen (all aged 17), Sekhar, Naveen, Anukumar, Harish and Chandu (all aged 20).
The arrested persons are all engineering students. But they have habituated to luxurious life and lavish spending. To meet their expenses, they started to vehicle lifting. They used to give the vehicles to their friends and known persons and get money and other favours in return. As there were many complaints of motorcycle thefts, police intensified their searches and nabbed the gang.
Five persons of 20 years of age were sent to remand. The cost of the recovered vehicles is about 22 lakhs. Armoor DSP Akula Ramreddy, SHO Lakshminarayana and Rural CI Sankranti Ravikumar were present at the press meet.
