pol2Kakinada: District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad said that sports are a relief from the day-to-day pressures and tensions. On Sunday a cricket match was held at the District Sports Authority stadium between the teams of Revenue and Police departments (Collector Vs SP). While Ms Neetu Kumari was the captain of the Revenue team SP Sivashankar Reddy captained the Police team. Inaugurating the match, the Collector said that government employees undergo a lot of stress in their work. To overcome this, some sort of exercise like walking or playing the sport of their choice is necessary. Sports not only relieve stress but also create physical well being and mental peace but also refreshes the mind to work more efficiently, she said. She suggested that all employees should practice some exercise to gain mental and physical well being. As Revenue and Police departments work under great pressure, such kind of sporting activity is necessary for them, she said. On this occasion, the SP said that daily exercise is a must for the Police personnel as the police can be alert and work much more efficiently by participating in sports activities. He urged the employees to participate in any sporting activity or at least take to walking. The Collector and the SP introduced the teams to each other at the start of the game. The Revenue team won the toss to field. The Police team that batted first made 229 runs for a loss of five wickets. Later, the Revenue team was all out for 53 runs. The Police team was declared as the winner. District Cricket Association members Ravi and Rangaraya Medical College PD Swaranjan Raju were the umpires. District Additional SP Satyanarayana, Kakinada APSP third battalion Commandant Rajesh Kumar, DSDO SV Ramana, SP CEO K Jayaraj, Kakinada RDO Jawaharlal Nehru, Kakinada Urban Tahsildar Ramamurthy and others participated.
