Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav is set to star alongside Bollywood veteran and fellow MP Jayaprada in a forthcoming Bhojpuri film. The film is being produced by Jayaprada and Bihari babu Shatrughan Sinha who is also expected to play a role in the movie. K D Dinkar Kapoor, the director of the film, said the former Bihar chief minister would be putting in a special appearance.

"Lalu will be playing a small role in the film which we hope to shoot next month," Kapoor said. "We require two days to shoot his portion in the film." The film has an emotional theme. Lalu plays a character who adopts a child in the film. Kapoor said 50 per cent shooting of the film was over and the rest would be completed soon. He said the film was the Bhojpuri remake of the critically acclaimed Telugu film, Matru Devobahava.

It is a heroine-oriented film. Jayaprada is not only producing the Bhojpuri film but also playing the lead role in it which also stars Manoj Tiwari. The film's name had not been finalised yet. A This is not the first time Lalu will be facing the camera. In 2003, he had played himself in a bit role in a Hindi film, Padmashri Laloo Prasad Yadav, which starred Bollywood star Sunil Shetty in the lead.

The unit of the film, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, had come down to Patna to film Lalu's two-minute scene with actors Johnny Lever and Mausumi Makhija. A scene of a lathi-wielding Lalu, however, could not save the film from bombing at the box office.

Besides, he had also shot for two regional films, Mahua and Gudri ke Lal. These movies also failed to make any impact at the box office.A Lalu, who has been a popular personality among tinsel town celebrities over the years, was not available for comment.
