After the sudden cataclysmic political crash, every effort by the Congress to rise from ashes seems to have come a cropper. The high-level delegation of APCC leaders recently calling on Governor E S L Narasimhan to elevate issues concerning AP is another feat of the same kind. The Governor need not vouch for himself. Telugu people look to him with admiration, approval and acceptance. No endorsement is necessary to highlight his already proven erudition, impeccable integrity and his penchant for the welfare of the people. ESL Narasimhan was appointed as the Governor of the state of Chhattisgarh for the first time in 2007 and then as Governor of the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh in December, 2009. He was given second term during August 2012. All these appointments were done by the UPA government headed by the Congress party. The NDA government only continued him as the Governor for Telangana and AP. One may note that the change in government did not lead to questioning the Governor's credentials of unimpeachable even-handedness. When many of the UPA-appointed Governors were axed for their controversies, the sword of Damocles of the NDA government shied away from haunting ESL. When the Governor was disdainfully questioned about his visits to temples to quench the flame of his personal faith, the secular leaders in Congress never went to his defense. It is strange that Congress of late is trying to see an antagonist in the Governor.
The delegation of the AP Congress Committee led by Raghuveera Reddy to the Governor pushed to the fore only those members belonging to a particular caste clan who are annoyingly lackadaisical and are disgustingly self-centered. The Congress party as it did in the past following the slaying of a riotous leader, Vangveeti Ranga, is evidently attempting again to flare up caste conflicts by provoking widely present Kapus to take on the ruling party on caste basis. Wisdom should dawn upon the Congress party that ill-conceived gimmickry will not save them.
