Tirupati: State BJP Secretary Bhanu Prakash Reddy appealed to the people to make the bandh called on April 9 in protest against the hike in power tariff a success.

Speaking to media persons at the Press Club here on Wednesday, he lashed out at the Congress government for trying to suppress the people's protest demonstrations with the help of police though they were demonstrating peacefully.

Bhanu Prakash Reddy said that in a democracy, no government had a right to suppress peaceful demonstrations and the people would teach a bitter lesson to those who try to trample upon their rights. He condemned the high-handed behaviour of the police on the BJP workers who were demonstrating peacefully.

The BJP leader said in the past, dictatorial leaders were thrown out of power and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would also come under the same category and would meet the same fate. He predicted that the Congress government would be thrown out of power in the next elections and Kiran Kumar Reddy would end up in history as the last Congress Chief Minister in the State.

He said that the government would bow down to the people's pressure and withdraw the hike in power tariff only when they participate in large numbers and make the bandh successful on April 9.
