Vijayawada: YSRCP leader Y S Sharmila, here on Tuesday, came down heavily on the Chief Minister N Kirankumar Reddy and the Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu for neglecting the welfare of people. Sharmila's Vastunna Meekosam Padayatra entered the city at Prakasam Barrage as thousands of the party workers welcomed her. Having completed her yatra in Guntur district, Sharmila entered the Krishna district walking through the 1.8 km long Prakasam Barrage. Later, she addressed the people at Kaleswararao Market. Targeting at the State government, Sharmila said that the government had given up the welfare schemes of late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. She said that Dr Rajasekhar Reddy, though in power as Chief Minister for six years, had showed to the people how a chief minister has to work for the people. She said that the successive chief ministers have diluted the welfare schemes leaving people to their fate. She took strong exception to the imposition of value added tax (VAT) on textiles and promised the YSR Congress government would withdraw it. She recalled that the CM promised 60 lakh jobs for the youth and was now claiming to have provided 35 lakh jobs. However, closure of industries, due to power crunch had left 20 lakh people jobless in the State.
