Local talent was to the fore in the Telangana State Open Sailing championship that concluded at Hussainsagar Lake here on Wednesday. On top of the charts was the phenomenal showing by the Under-18 sailors in the Junior Laser 4.7 Class, where they swept the top three positions.

Hyderabad: Local talent was to the fore in the Telangana State Open Sailing championship that concluded at Hussainsagar Lake here on Wednesday. On top of the charts was the phenomenal showing by the Under-18 sailors in the Junior Laser 4.7 Class, where they swept the top three positions.

It has been a significant achievement considering that competitors came from States like Goa, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

M Koteshwar Rao took the top honours. Masti Saibaba and Gautham Kankatla took the next two spots.
However, the overall trophy in the Open Senior category was won by Ajay Singh Rajput of INWTC, Maharashtra, after he aggregated 19 points.

The youth honours were clinched by Shekhar Singh Yadav also of INWTC when he topped in the Open Radial class.Tanishq Desai of Yatch Club of Hyderabad, with 72 points, bagged Overall Trophy in the Telangnaa State Champion.

Later, Dr Chiranjeevulu, Metropolitan Commissioner of HMDA gave away the prizes. Dadi Bhote and Anil Desai from Telangana Sailing Association, Brig GS Julka and Dr P Rajaram were present on the occasion.

Results: Juniors Open-Laser 4.7: 1. Ram Milan Yadav (MP) - 26 points, 2. Chitresh Thata (TN 63), 3. Koteshwar Rao (TS 69); Juniors State-Laser 4.7: 1.Koteshwar Rao (69), 2. Masti Saibaba (83), 3. Gautham Kankatla (96); Senior-Laser Standard: 1. Ajay Singh Rajput (Maha 19), 2. Avinash Yadav (Maha 30), 3. Lim John (Kar 33).
