Apple More Desirable Despite Android Dominance. Apple More Desirable Despite Android Dominance In Emerging Markets: Report
Washington: Apple is seen as a more desirable brand in emerging markets where Android enjoys dominance, a new study has revealed.
A study by Upstream, done in conjunction with Ovum, showed that among buyers inBrazil, China, India, Nigeriaand Vietnam, Apple is the top brand when it comes to consumer wants.
It was found that preference for Apple garnered 32 percent interest from respondents compared to Samsung that received 29 percent interest and Nokia lagging at 13 percent, Tech Crunch reports.
According to the study, Android is powering 296,493 active smartphone devices in these regions, compared to 90,184 iOS-powered mobile gadgets.
However, Apple beat Samsung as the top desired platform for 2013, which could work in favour of the tech giant who aims to promote future growth in regions where it doesn't necessarily have that much penetration currently.
The report said that Apple is working more closely with retailers and partners in countries likeIndia to make hardware more affordable and accessible in other ways.
