With mobile phones becoming indispensable, it is only natural to find religious information too on your phone. The immediacy of mobile apps providing ready information instantaneously even when people are on the move gave way to the idea of engaging pilgrims via technology.

RailYatri.in has turned this next-generation thought into a reality. After associating on the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign and educating people on how to keep railways stations clean, RailYatri.in has again partnered with Southern Railways and launched an app exclusively for Sabarimala pilgrims. Close to 4 crore pilgrims visit Sabarimala every year.

The first-of-its-kind dedicated mobile app for pilgrims of Sabarimala hosts unique features such as one-click arrival/departure train information for Sabarimala related stations. The app publishes important travel alerts to the users without them asking or searching for it. Religious travellers can now easily find the time table of trains or even booking a taxi to reach to the final destination from the railway station. The objective of the Sabarimala app is to service pilgrims on the go and to provide them a hassle-free train experience.

“When there is an app for booking movie tickets, ordering pizza, an app for Sabarimala, the biggest religious event of south India, makes much sense,” says Manish Rathi, co-founder and CEO, RailYatri.in.

“This is an age where even the Pope turned to Twitter. It is time we bridge the information gap for worshippers through technology and also help Railways in whatever little way we can,” he added. The app is available on RailYatri.in’s official website and on Playstore as RYSabarimala.
