Melbourne : Smartphones are replacing humans as a Chinese restaurant in Beijing has recently replaced its waiters with a smartphone application.

This application allows customers to seat themselves and order their meals without speaking a word, reports News.com.au.

The founder of Renrenxiang Restaurant, Liu Zheng said that he adopted the system in a bid to follow the technology trend in China.

Customers select and pay for their choice from the restaurant's menu via the country's most popular messaging app WeChat.

When a customer places order the app provides them with a number and a team of kitchen staff then turns the digital orders into meals and each number is called out over the speakers, when it's ready to be collected by the customer.

Zheng said that he has more grand plans to further transform the restaurant's dining experience as there will be no waitress, cashier, merchandiser and chef in his hotel.
