Hyderabad: A report over the blocking of TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothy channels by the cable TV operators in Telangana has been sought by the Centre on Wednesday from the Telangana government.

Prakash Javdekar, the Union Minister for information and broadcasting, has asked Telangana chief secretary Dr Rajeev Sharma to enquire into the issue and submit a report. Both the channels took up the issue with the Centre and urged it to take steps for restoration of broadcasting of channels.

It is worth recollecting that Going on with the alleged attacking of the Telangana language in its specific dialect and for insulting the Telangana State Assembly and its legislators besides broadcasting spiteful half-truths against the Telangana government, the Telangana Cable TV operators have decided to close down the transmission of TV9 and ABN Andhra Jyothy channels in Telangana state for an indefinite period.

All the Cable Television operators under the shade of Telangana MSO Association gathered together in Hyderabad on Monday and decided to block the mentioned two Telugu channels - TV9 and ABN.

Later, they urged all the media organisations not to adopt an anti-Telangana stand for giving positive coverage to AP. They said they have no objection if media groups present facts, but they would not tolerate false misinformation against Telangana.

Subhash Reddy, the president of MSOs, said that both these channels have already been blocked in some areas and the shutdown has been extended to the entire state with an immediate effect on Monday.

It is evident that there was a special mention about the alleged malicious transmission of propaganda by KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana, in the state assembly during the just concluded assembly session.

From the other end, the Cyberabad Second Metropolitan Magistrate on Wednesday has ordered to file a case against TV9 proprietor Raviprakash for alleged telecast of programmes that otherwise insults the Telangana dialect.
