Photo: Thehansindia E-PaperHyderabad: Expressing grave disappointment over the passage of the bill transferring seven mandals of Khammam district to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said his government would continue its fight against the injustice. KCR, in a statement, said the government denounced the "undemocratic and unethical" manner in which the bill had been passed in the Lok Sabha.

He said all was still not over and the Telangana government would explore legal options against the Centre's decision. He said the government was consulting legal luminaries and constitutional experts. "The fight will continue. The modalities will be announced later," he said. He said passing the Bill to convert an ordinance issued last month into legislation was a clear-cut violation of article 3 of the constitution as the consent of Telangana was not taken. It was totally against the federal spirit. KCR felt that the issue could have been amicably settled by changing the design of Polavaram project.

He said though his party MPs argued against the move, the BJP-led ruling coalition did not take their objections into account and went ahead with the legislation.
Reacting to this, the Andhra Pradesh Minister for Finance Y Ramakrishnudu said the centre had only implemented the decision taken by the UPA government at the time of bifurcating the state. He said the TRS and other parties in the Telganana State were making noise only for political reasons.
