After Polavaram, T govt at loggerheads with Centre again

The Telangana government which is already at loggerheads with the Centre over the Polavaram project appears to be once again taking on the Centre over the issue of the proposed joint police force.
No joint police force in Hyd
- Tells Centre law & order exclusively a State subject
- Makes it clear it will not tolerate any interference
- IT Minister KTR had said AP CM was a guest in Hyd
Hyderabad: The Telangana government which is already at loggerheads with the Centre over the Polavaram project appears to be once again taking on the Centre over the issue of the proposed joint police force.
The government is learnt to have sent a missive to the Union Home Ministry, rejecting the proposal of having a joint police force comprising forces from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The T government has informed the Centre that the common capital area is an integral part of Telangana state and there cannot be any joint force in Hyderabad.
It contends that the law and order is a subject matter of the state government and no one can interfere in the matter. Police officers from another state cannot have jurisdiction in Telangana, the government categorically made it clear to the Centre. The letter was written by Principal Secretary (General Administration Department) Ajay Mishra. Minister for IT K Tarakarama Rao also made similar comments during a recent interaction with the media. He even said that the Andhra Pradesh CM was a guest in Telangana and he should not try to interfere with the administrative matters of Telangana state. “We will not tolerate any such acts,” he said.
The Home Ministry had proposed to constitute a joint force to control the law and order in Hyderabad and set up a special cell to deal with hate crimes.
It may be mentioned here that the Telangana government has been opposing the overwhelming powers of the Governor in the joint capital region. It has already registered its protest with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and opposed any move to amend the business transactions rules of Telangana.
