Rajahmundry: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should withdraw his statements against Polavaram Bill, which allowed inclusion of merger of seven mandals into Andhra Pradesh, BJP National Committee member and party senior leader Somu Veerraju demanded here on Monday. He made it clear that the State BJP would launch an agitation demanding retaining of entire Bhadrachalam revenue division in East Godavari district which was the actual status before 1959 if KCR did not withdraw claims on Polavaram submerging villages. Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Veerraju said that a team of BJP MPs, Ministers, MLAs from Andhra would go to Delhi and submit a representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Central Ministers on merging of Venkatapuram, Charla, Vajedu and Dummugudem mandals into East Godavari. They would also meet Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on this issue, he added.

He said that BJP had been demanding formation of new tribal district with Rampachodavaram or Rajahmundry as headquarters with already merged seven villages-VR Puram, Kunavaram, Chintur, Velerupadu, Kukunoor, Bhadrachalam (excluding the revenue village of Bhadrachalam) and Burgumpadu (barring 12 revenue villages) with the AP. He informed that 1.89 lakh inhabitants predominantly Adivasis, who constitute a major chunk of the total population of 5.61 lakh in the Tribal Sub-Plan area of Bhadrachalam Agency, would become the residents of AP. He demanded that Chandrababu Naidu should decentralise the development and immediately announce development roadmap for the state. He reminded that the BJP government at the Center had kept its promise by announcing Petroleum University, Tribal University, Horticulture Research Institute Sub-Center, Hardware Park, Fertilizers production with coconut pith and also land for Agriculture University-all in East Godavari district.
