Microsoft plans to expand operations in Telangana

Hyderabad: Global software giant Microsoft plans to expand its operations in Telangana. Microsoft India chairman Bhaskar Pramanik on Monday met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here and discussed the expansion plans.

Pramanik briefed KCR of the activities of Microsoft in India and also discussed the tax policy being followed in the country. A statement from the Chief Minister's office said Pramanik announced that Microsoft would further expand its operations in Telangana. Telangana’s Information Technology Minister KT Rama Rao was also present at the meeting.

The global software major has its India development centre here. Set up in 1998, it is the largest R&D centre of Microsoft outside its Redmond in the US facility. KTR explained that the government had plans to make Hyderabad wi-fy enabled city. “We want to send out a loud message to the people around the world that it is business as usual in Hyderabad,” he said.

Telangana is now readying a blueprint to spur growth in the IT sector. Steps to set up India’s largest startups incubator in alliance with Indian School of Business and IIIT and making Hyderabad India’s first fully Wi-Fi enabled city through 4G services of Reliance, Airtel and BSNL are part of the strategy, said KTR.
