Hyderabad: Drawing the attention of the TRS government towards the cases of farmers’ suicides, the BJP Kisan Morcha demanded that the government immediately fulfil its promise on providing loan waiver to the farmers and provide an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to each of the families whose earning member had committed suicide in the last two months.

At its working committee meeting, the Morcha felt that the farmers were feeling depressed owing to the government's failure to provide 8 hours of power, as was promised. It decried that at least four hours of power was not being supplied to them.

With the drought-like situation looming large, it demanded that the government constitute a high level committee and invite an all party-meeting for preparedness, in such a scenario.

To weed out political interference in Marketing Department, the Kisan Morcha urged the government to appoint experienced farmers as its chairman, commission agents and for other important posts.

To encourage dairy farming in the State, the committee in its resolution sought minimum support price of Rs 40 per litre for cow milk and Rs 50 per litre for buffalo milk to the dairy farmers.

The meeting, attended by the party national vice-president and MP Bandaru Dattatraya, party Assembly floor leader K Laxman, was presided over by the Kisan Morcha state president G Madhusudhan Reddy.
