Hyderabad - the apple of their eyes

• Majority of the AIS officers opted for Telangana in staff division
• Their only purpose was to stay back in Hyderabad
• But most of them were disappointed, even couples were separated

The Big Apple is the nickname of New York City. Though there are several theories why it got its name, one thing is sure: New York City attracts everyone from all over world. So is the case with Hyderabad City. It attracts people not only from all over united Andhra Pradesh but also from all over country. That is why it could also be described as The Big Apple of now two Telugu States.

There is no other explanation why so many All India Service (AIS) officers opted for Telangana when they are asked to choose either Telangana or Andhra Pradesh to work post-bifurcation.

In spite of their choice, a principal secretary who refused to reveal his name was quoted as saying that no IAS officer is complaining against their allocation to AP or Telangana.

In case of IPS officers it is a different story altogether. For instance, a number of IPS officers from other States working in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh have chosen to work for Telangana when they were asked to give their options post-bifurcation. Of the 92 officers, more than 61 have chosen Telangana as their option to work. The only reason is that they could stay back in Hyderabad if they opted for Telangana.

Of the 62 IPS officers in the unreserved (UR) category from other States working in AP, 49 officers selected Telangana while only seven opted for Andhra Pradesh. There was no response (NR) from two officers while three officers have given Equal Preference.

Ashok Prasad of Bihar, Abhilasha Bisht of Uttarakhand did not respond to the options while VSK Kaumudi and Ray Vinay Ranjan, both from Bihar and Vishnu S Warrier of Kerala have given ‘Equal Preference’ option.

The IPS officers of other States who opted for Telangana form a long list.

However, the officers who chose Andhra Pradesh include R P Thakur (Bihar), K R M Kishore Kumar (Tamil Nadu), Anjana Sinha (Bihar), Dr S B Bagchi (West Bengal), Naveen Gulati (Gujarat), Varun B R (Karnataka), Vijay Kumar SM (Karnataka) and Aishwarya Rastogi (UP).

Likewise, among 12 officers in the OBC category from other States, seven wanted to work in Telangana. They include Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat (Maharashtra), VC Sajjanar (Karnataka), Vijay Kumar (Bihar), Sanjay Kumar Jain (Bihar), Rajesh Kumar (Jharkhand), Shahnawaz Qasim (Bihar) and R Jayalakshmi (Tamil Nadu). Only four officers opted Andhra Pradesh—S Snethil Kumar (Tamil Nadu), D Joel Davis (Tamil Nadu), Anburajan KKN (Tamil Nadu) and K Sasi Kumar (Tamil Nadu). Only one officer Bhaskaran R from Tamil Nadu did not respond to the option.

In the SC category from other States, out of 11 officers six officers have chosen Telangana. They are Satyanarain (UP), Govidn Singh (Delhi), Dr A Ravi Shankar (New Delhi), Anil Kumar (Himachal Pradesh), Grewal Navdeep Singh K S (Punjab) and Rama Rajeswari R (Kerala). Likewise, T Krishna Raju (Karnataka), Nalin Prabhat (Punjab), Vishal Gunni (Karnataka), Kalmeshwar Shingenavar (Karnataka) and Siddharth Kaushal (Haryana) wanted to work for Andhra Pradesh.

Among ST category officers from other States all the seven officers asked for Telangana. D Gautam Sawang, Dr BL Meena, Rajeev Kumar Meena, Swati Lakra, Vineet Brij Lal, Kartikeyan and Fakkeerappa Kaginelli.

However, all the 21 State Police Service (SPS) Officers hailing from Telangana opted to work in Telangana and accordingly they are allotted their native state.

Likewise, of the 48 SPS officers from Andhra Pradesh, except nine officers all of them are posted in Andhra Pradesh. The nine officers—N Suryanarayana, B Balakrishna, M Shiva Prasad, PVS Ramakrishna, P Muni Swamy, J Prabhakar Rao, LKV Ranga Rao, K Ramesh Naidu and V Satyanarayana -- are posted in Telangana.

In case of IPS officers belonging to Andhra Pradesh all of them are allocated to AP: Jasti Venkata Ramudu, N Sambasiva Rao, M Malakondaiah, A B Venkateswara Rao, Ch D Tirumala Rao, Madireddy POratap, K V Rajendranath Reddy, N Balasubrahmanyam, N Madhusudhan Reddy, Kolli Raghuram Reddy, Ake Ravi Krishna, Gajarao Bhupal, Koya Praveen, Bhusarapu Satya Yeshubabu and Venkata Appalanaidu Chitnam.

Among the regular recruit IPS officers belonging to Telangana, except PSR Anjaneyulu, who is allocated to AP, all the 13 officers are allotted to Telangana: Aruna Bahuguna, K Durga Prasad, Abdul Khayyum Khan, Tejdeep Kaur Menon, Mahender Reddy, J Poornachander Rao, C V Anand, K Sreenivas Reddy, B Sridhar Reddy, Charu Sinha, Yaram Nagi Reddy, Avinash Mohanty and Nyalakonda Prakash Reddy.

In the OBC category of regular recruit AP IPS officers, except V V Srinivas Rao, all the five officers – N Sanjay, Kanti Rana Tata, C M Thrivikrama Varma, Gopinath Jatti and Babujee Attada—are allotted to AP.

The OBC category regular recruit Telangana IPS officers B Naveen Kumar and Viswajit Kampati are allotted to Telangana while Stephen Ravindra is allotted to AP.

All the SC category regular recruit AP officers are allotted to their native state only: B Prasad Rao, S Venkataramana Murti, P V Sunil Kumar, Chiruvolu Srikanth and Vijayarao Champatapalli.

Likewise, the IPS officers of Telangana in SC category—T Krishna Prasad, M Gopikrishna, Dr R S Praveen Kumar, G Chandana and Chetna Mylabhutala—are allotted to Telangana except Burugu Rajakumari who is allotted to AP.
