Hyderabad: Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender is believed to be sore over the decision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to start the budget exercise afresh by constituting 14 task force committees.

Rajender has reportedly expressed displeasure for not inducting him as one of the members in any of these committees. Even the other Ministers, it is said, will have no role in the preparation of the budget.

Keeping aside the original proposals that have been compiled so far, the Chief Minister said he intended to ensure that the first budget reflected the development of Telangana. He was of the view that all the proposals submitted to him were prepared on the old pattern that was followed when the State was united and wanted that a new and smart budget should be presented.

Hence, he constituted the task force committees for Welfare, Drinking water supply, Sanitation, Agriculture and Dairy industry, Industry and Basic infrastructure development, Human resource development, Irrigation and Water resources, Energy, Environment, Law and Administrative Reforms, Vigilance, Resource mobilisation, Law and Order, Urban development and Rural development.

In the normal process of preparing budget every Minister in the Cabinet should hold meeting with his department officials and send the proposals to Finance Minister for the latter’s approval. The Finance Minister then holds department-wise meetings and decides on the allocations to be made to each department. But this time, the officials have been given all rights to finalise budget proposals.
