Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is on a high. The people of Telangana gave power the TRS after the Andhra Pradesh was divided into two states. Riding high on the success of his victory, KCR is working on bringing about fleeting changes in the state overnight. KCR is a very hands-on chief minister as he's closely involved in every decision. Be it choosing the logo for the state or even deciding the colour and make of the police vehicle, KCR is the person calling the shots.

The Telangana chief minister recently paid a visit to Singapore to lure investors. He even promised them that the state would be free of corruption and that they can fearlessly invest in Telangana. Taken in by the cleanliness of Singapore, KCR said he would develop Brand Hyderabad on the lines of Singapore.

Of course! Telanganiites are mighty pleased with the announcement. Who wouldn't want to live in a better city? But reality was soon to jolt the public. The city witnessed two accidents in one day-both caused by bad roads.

It's a known fact that pothole-ridden roads are any denizen's nightmare. Sadly, for two it even turned fatal. A senior citizen who got down from the bus to cross the road and reach early was run over by the RTC bus near Sindhi Colony while a DCM run over an inter student.

The reason I am quoting these two incidents is to bring to the kind notice of our honourable chief minister that it's high-time we look into the basic needs of the public than live in illusions. There's no harm in dreaming big. But isn't it important to first address issues that are directly affecting the common man like water, power and roads? We sure are in awe of KCR's vision for Hyderabad. But I think we must take baby steps towards development rather than rushing through.

And one person can't work miracles. Everything is team work. Civilians on their part too must start behaving responsibly and work towards making their neighbourhood livable. To begin with public should get rid of habits like spitting on the roads, rash driving, urinating in public, littering, flouting traffic rules etc. A clean city must be every citizen's responsibility.
