Hyderabad: “We hear about quality every now and then, but many of us might not be aware of the fact that quality is in fact one stream of management philosophy and the Telangana government is committed to improving the quality of life of all people, particularly the poor,” IT Minister K T Rama Rao said here on Wednesday.

Addressing a function organised by the Hyderabad chapter of Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), KTR said that in order to improve quality of life of the future generations of Telangana, the government had decided to focus on quality of education from KG to PG through English medium. This he said would enable the people of the State to compete globally.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of QCFI Hyderabad chapter, Ch Balakrishna Rao, explained the mission of the Forum. Rao told The Hans India the mission of QCFI was to “motivate grassroot level employees who have enormous knowledge to take part in the management processes within an organisation, who have no scope otherwise.” Quality Circle concept was first introduced by BHEL, Ramachandrapuram in 1981. But the concept has been lapped up over the years by well-known companies like APSRTC, NMDC and others. NTPC is another public sector unit which follows this concept in its various units, he said.

Rao said that the two-day convention of QCFI was hosting 15-minute power-point presentations on innovative quality concepts, spread over five parallel streams, apart from 15 technical sessions.
