Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday said that the government was committed to developing Hyderabad as a major medical tourism hub.
Addressing a meeting after inaugurating the multi-speciality Continental International Cancer Centre at Gachibowli, Rao said he would himself act as the brand ambassador for the hospitals in the city.
The CM was all praise for the state-of-the-art cancer centre and said he was impressed very much by the ambience of the place. The Centre is India’s first LEED qualified, a 700-bed super specialty tertiary care hospital, built to international standards.
“I feel as if I am in a foreign country when I am in this hospital,” he said, complimenting the architects of Continental Hospitals – Dr Guru N Reddy and others – for designing it on a par with international standards. He noted that such a medical centre would give a great boost to the brand image of Hyderabad.
There are more than 30 wings to provide comprehensive treatment for all kinds of cancer. Eminent doctors of the city have been roped in to provide round-the-clock service to patients.
Dr Guru N Reddy, founder and CMD of Continental Hospitals Limited (CHL), said the Cancer Centre is equipped with TRUEBEAM STx with Triple F technology, which is the most sophisticated linear accelerator in the world and the only one in the twin states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Centre has the best of technology, equipment and treatment protocols, and these have been put in place in consultation and collaboration with specialists at Continental Hospitals, he said. The Cancer Centre is a tertiary level, multidisciplinary cancer management, prevention and research centre with latest cutting-edge technology across all the three core areas of Oncology: Surgical, Medical and Radiation. The Centre facilitates appropriate and timely delivery of the best clinical care based on the principles of evidence-based medicine, clinical effectiveness and research, according to Dr Ramana Murthy Chitti, the Consultant Radiation Oncologist.
Radiation oncology unit at the Centre offers the most focused treatment with least side effects and errors. With advanced imaging and 4D RT technology, and the ‘Image Guided Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy’ technique, Continental Hospitals physicians safely guide the radiation beam into tumours, while protecting surrounding normal organs like heart, kidney, bladder, spinal cord etc, explained. Anuradha Reddy, Vice-President, CHL, Dr Praveen K Dadireddy, Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon.
