  • Shabbir Ali challenges KTR for an open debate on power
  • Says KCR never met PM or Union Power Minister for getting state’s share of power

Shabbir AliHyderabad: A day after Telangana Chief Minister and president of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) K Chandrasekhar Rao likened Telangana Congress leaders to ‘dogs’ and held them responsible for the power shortage vows, the Congress leaders cautioned the Chief Minister not to use such words and said that if the same trend continued people would show how they could actually bite.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on the advice of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has prepared CDs and DVDs which consist of what KCR had said before the elections on various issues and how he is now changing his stand. The Congress leaders will play both the statements called ‘Then and Now’.

The TPCC sources say that they have decided to trigger a war against the ruling party and KCR.

Former minister DK Aruna, a known critic of KCR said the Chief Minister could not get away by indulging in tongue-lashing. Aruna demanded KCR not to put public issues on backburner and try to divert attention by celebrating festivals like Bathukamma in a grandiose manner. She alleged that he was turning even such events into family shows.

Deputy leader of the party in the Legislative Council Mohammad Shabbir Ali threw an open challenge to State IT and Panchayat Raj Minister KT Ramarao to come for a debate on issues like loan waiver and power crisis in the State.

Shabbir said during Congress regime production capacity of 2,175 MW was created by completing six projects and partial completion of one gas-based project at Karimnagar. Projects with a capacity of 2,720 MW thermal and hydro power projects were at various stages of completion when the party went out of power.

He said that phase-I of the Krishnapatnam thermal project had been completed and the 800 MW produced by the project was being completely utilised by the AP government. Though the Telangana government can ask for its share, the CM was not bothered about it, he added.

He said KCR never met Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Power Minister Piyush Goel and he did not seek any help in getting 54 percent of the power from Krishnapatnam to Telangana.
