The MLA had alleged that though the officials had to follow the protocol and inform the local MLA on the events being conducted by the government in his constituency, the same was not followed. Alleging that the State government has been discriminating against him, he wanted to stage a protest. However, the police detained the MLA at his party’s local office. Gandhi's followers were also detained by the police to prevent any untoward incident at the venue.

However, the MLA threatened that he along with his followers would stage a protest on the premises of the venue when the President Pranab Mukherjee would address the meet.

However, officials denied any breach of protocol and noted that on Monday itself an invitation was given to the MLA to attend the inaugural session of the Congress. The officials further added if the MLA had any differences with the GHMC, he could resolve by taking up the issue with appropriate authorities, and should not disturb an international event which was intended to build the brand Hyderabad. Following this incident, the Cyberabad police have further tightened the security around the venue in the wake of the President’s visit.

Meanwhile, a pilot team belonging to the presidential security had reportedly toured the venue and its surroundings to advise on the security measures to be taken during the President’s visit to the Metropolis meet.
