Poor quality food in ST, BC hostels
Uncooked rice and poor quality ‘sambar’ are being served to the inmates of ST boys and BC girls hostels in the town by the staff.
Tandur (Ranga Reddy): Uncooked rice and poor quality ‘sambar’ are being served to the inmates of ST boys and BC girls hostels in the town by the staff. The students are falling sick. When questioned, the warden is allegedly punishing them, thrashing after undressing.
According to students, the warden does not come to hostels regularly. He hands over utensils to cooks and disappears. The hostels lack proper bathroom facilities, forcing the inmates to bathe outside. They alleged that Rs.25, 000 sanctioned for carrying out repairs to bathrooms has been swindled by the warden, after creating records to show that the work has been completed. Although the academic year is into three months, the inmates are yet to receive cosmetic slips.
The staff allegedly misused this facility, causing hardship to the students as no oil soap and oil are provided to them.
Students who give information to the media are allegedly being threatened by the warden and the staff.
