Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who held a review meeting in this connection at Secretariat on Tuesday, has asked the government to construct 26 grids in the entire State. In view of completion of 60 per cent of Hydraulic survey, government has decided to call for tenders in areas were survey was over. There is also a proposal to call district-wise tenders for laying 1.32-lakh km length of pipeline for the grid. Pipes should be manufactured in Telangana if possible, for which government was ready to doll out subsidies for factories, KCR stressed.

Pipelines would be laid from various projects, reservoirs and dams such as Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar, Paler, Kinnerasani, Wyra, Ramappa, LMD, Kadem, Ellampally, SRSP, Nizamsagar and Manjira.

KCR told authorities not to compromise on quality of work since this was a dream project of his government. Water should be pumped and stored in high-altitude locations and from there it should be supplied through gravity means to habitats, he said. Power requirements would be huge for this project and hence related proposals should be submitted to electricity department, CM stated.
