Sircilla (Karimnagar): IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao on Sunday held the previous Congress and TDP governments responsible for the power crisis being faced by the State.

Eight hundred Congress workers belonging to Mustabad mandal including one ZPTC, five MPTCs and five sarpanches joined the TRS in the presence of K T Rama Rao and Finance Minister Etela Rajender. The two ministers welcomed them to the TRS.

Speaking on the occasion, the IT Minister said the Congress and the TDP which ruled the State for about five decades were responsible for the power woes currently being faced by the Telangana. He pointed out that though Rayalaseema faced water shortage, the previous governments established power projects there.

Though Andhra region faced shortage of coal, power plants were also set up there.

Despite Telangana possessing both water and coal, no power projects were established in Telangana region, the Minister pointed out.

He flayed the TDP leaders for agitating over lack of power in Telangana and at the same time posing hurdles to the TRS government in generating power at Srisailam hydel power project.

K T Rama Rao said issuing of food security cards and pensions was an ongoing exercise. He assured people that the government would take measures to see that all the eligible persons derive benefit from welfare schemes.

Finance Minister Etela Rajender alleged that TDP leaders were known for misusing power to earn money. He clarified that the TRS leaders would not pursue such policies.
