40 shanties gutted
Some 40 shanties were completely gutted in the fire at Rajendranagar, near Attapur on Wednesday afternoon.

Hyderabad: Some 40 shanties were completely gutted in the fire at Rajendranagar, near Attapur on Wednesday afternoon. The dwellers of the site escaped unhurt, but their belongings perished. Police are investigating the cause of accident.
The dwellers, all belonging to Mahabubnagar district, settled during the last few months in the area and worked as labourers for Tirupataiah, a mason and resident of Atmakur of the same district.
When the fire took place, at about 3.30 pm, most of the labourers were away for their work. No injuries were reported, but their food items, clothing and their hard earned savings were gutted in the billowing fire. The fire tenders doused the flames. The local MRO, who visited the spot, announced the government support of Rs 8,000 for each family as financial assistance, apart from 20 kg of rice, a pair of clothing for each family member and 5 litres of kerosene.
