Hyderabad: With the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation making provisions to provide partitions in city buses, women can now travel comfortably with a sense of security and men not occupying their seats.

Based on the recommendation of the seven-member committee constituted by the TS government on women’s safety that a wire mesh be provided to separate men and women commuters in RTC buses, the TSRTC has installed partial partitions and conducted trial runs between Secunderabad and Afzalgunj since October. The fourth seat from the front has a sheet of fibreglass that partitions the bus. Women will have to board the bus from front door and men from rear door. Women who travelled by such buses during the trial run expressed happiness, RTC officials said.

There have been complaints from women that men sharing the standing space misbehave with them during the peak hours. The suffering of women will come to an end with the TSRTC making provisions of partitions in all buses soon.
