Blame game over suicides for T State
Hyderabad: The final day of the budget session of Telangana Assembly saw ruckus as the main Opposition Congress and the BJP got into a verbal war on the Telangana Statehood issue.
- BJP, TRS launch blistering attack on Congress
- Congress points out sacrifices made by Sonia
- House adjourned sine die amid counter slogans
- TRS saw smooth sailing for most part of session
- Gets oppn wrath for muzzling their voice
The Congress party found itself singled out as both the ruling TRS and the BJP launched a diatribe against the Congress party, alleging that the inordinate delay in granting separate statehood resulted in several young people committing suicide.
Though the Congress members stormed into the well and said that no one can forget the sacrifice Sonia Gandhi had made in according statehood to Telangana, the attack did not subside. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, demanding an apology from the TRS, said that the Congress gave birth to a child called Telangana State, knowing full well about the consequences and that TRS would get maximum advantage.
Refuting the Congress claim, BJP member G Kishan Reddy said that the credit for forcing the Congress government to get statehood should go to the people who agitated for separate state. The red-faced Congress party members once again objected to the remarks and both the Congress and the BJP members rushed to the well of the house and raised slogans.
Deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah tried to pacify the agitated Congress members saying that he has high respect for Sonia Gandhi as she gave him an MLA ticket without asking for it when he was in Congress party.
As the din did not subside, Speaker S Madhusudhanachary adjourned house sine a die. The Congress party which failed to take on the TRS during the discussion on appropriation bill now claims that it will go to people and expose the non performance of the TRS. During the 19 day session, the government had a smooth sailing for major part of the session.
The house debated on issues like severe power crisis, spate of farmers suicides, constitution of house committees on misuse of lands, introduced new industrial policy and unanimously passed the appropriation bill.
It also constituted House committees to probe the alleged encroachment of assigned lands, wakf and endowment lands and the irregularities in the Housing societies across the state. The TRS government however had a tough time handling the TDP member A Revanth Reddy who had alleged that the government had shown favouritism in allocation of lands to My Home company.
