Warangal: Members of teaching and non-teaching employees unions of Kakatiya University (KU), who were unhappy over the meagre budgetary allocation to the universities, have planned to stage a series of protests. Following a decision by state universities, the members of Association of Kakatiya University Teachers (AKUT), Associations of Officers, Class IV employees and NGOs have announced the schedule for taking up series of protests.

A meeting of the union leaders was held here at Kakatiya University on Wednesday. The AKUT president Prof M Sarangapani, who chaired the meeting, has expressed serious concern over the poor fund allocation to the universities by the state government. He said that the Association leaders have been demanding enhanced budget allocation towards salaries and block grant to pay pensions, filling up of vacant posts in universities and issue of health cards to employees. He informed that on Thursday an ‘Open Letter’ to state government would be released to draw its attention towards their issues.

A round table meeting would also be held on December 5, besides a protest rally on December 17, ‘Vanta Varpu’ on December 23, ‘Universities Bandh’ on December 30 and ‘Chalo Secretariat’ on January 21, 2015. “If the government fails to address the demands by that time an indefinite strike would be launched,” he stated. The Association leaders V Krishna Reddy and others were present.
