Hyderabad: Gau Kranti Manch, an affiliate of Bharatiya Janata Party, threatened the Telangana Rashtra Samiti government to shut down cow abattoirs in the city. The manch president Gopal Maniji alleged that the officials were planning to open more slaughterhouses in the city.

“The Telangana government is planning to add more abattoirs to the five existing slaughterhouses in the city,” Gopal Maniji alleged at a public meeting held at Gosha Mahal Police Grounds on Sunday.

The office bearers accused various state governments of ‘conspiring’ to make Indians weak, docile and impotent. They extolled the virtues of cow milk and described it as the most nutritious milk.

They described the city as ‘Durbhagya Nagar’ alluding to its original name of Bhagyanagar. They warned that if the Chandrasekhar Rao government failed to ban cow slaughter, they would embark on massive agitation.

Gosha Mahal MLA T Raja Singh, president of Gau Rakhsa Dal, Naresh Bhai, chief of the city unit T Murari among others took part in the public meeting.

The frontal organisation has got a new lease of life after the formation of the NDA government. Now, a new movement named 'Gau Kranthi' has come to the fore.

The movement aims at protecting cows from being slaughtered through an organisation called ‘Gau Raksha Dal’.

Its main objective is to make ‘Gau Matha’ (mother cow) as ‘Rashtra Matha’. It demands the governments to ban cow slaughter in the country and restore the ‘Hindu way of living’ to its pristine glory.
