Hyderabad: Telangana government would soon bring relief to the electricity consumers, including industries and commercial establishments by providing round-the-clock power supply in the State capital on the lines Mumbai and New York that were freed from power outages.

At a meeting with the management of the GreenCo company here, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao instructed the officials of the Energy department to prepare plans for 24-hour power supply to the denizens of Hyderabad.

He wanted special attention be given in power supply in view of the companies working round-the-clock in the city.

Stating that his government targets to generate 800 MW of power from solar and wind sources by 2018, the Chief Minister said tenders were already called for the setting up of solar power plants with 2,000 MW capacity under the long-term plan. To tide over power crisis, he proposed the extensive use of solar power in running the agricultural pump sets. The officials were also asked to conduct a study on the possibility of generation of thermal, solar and wind power in the State.
