Warangal: Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana state president G Kishan Reddy on Monday exhorted the party workers in the district to strive to win the 2019 Assembly elections in the State. He advised partymen to work hard to strengthen the party at the grassroots with Assembly elections as the target, thus paving the way for the party’s victory. “The BJP wave has been sweeping across the nation and it should be exploited to bring as many voters as possible into the party fold,” he added.

Addressing the booth level in-charges here, Reddy said the party was able to win recent elections in small States, like Chhattisgarh and Haryana. “The victory should be replicated in Telangana. In the days to come, BJP would emerge as a major political force in the State,” he said.

As a prelude to the 2019 general elections, party workers have to carry out effective ground work for ensuring its victory in the municipal elections in Warangal, the second biggest city in Telangana, he said. Reddy claimed that development of Warangal could be achieved only by BJP. The Centre had been making plans for the all-round progress of the city. Priority was being given to Warangal in executing IT-related projects by providing ample funds, he explained.

The BJP leader wanted the government to conduct elections immediately to the Hyderabad, Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations. He raised the demand in the wake of government deferring the poll. Referring to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s controversial praise of the Nizam, the BJP leader asked him to face an open debate on ‘tyrannical’ rule of the Nizam.

He faulted KCR’s eagerness to strike a deal with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM). He alleged that the MIM had obstructed formation of Telangana. “By doing this, the Chief Minister is hurting the self-respect of people in the State,” he alleged. He advised party workers to explain to the public KCR’s real character.
