Hyderabad: A local court on Wednesday sent Salman Mohiuddin, the suspected Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) recruit who was arrested for allegedly trying to leave the country to join the Middle-East terror group, to ten-day police custody. After arguments and counter-arguments from the prosecution and defence, the court on Wednesday allowed the petition and granted ten day custody of Salman, who is presently under judicial remand.

Cyberabad Police, in its petition, had earlier sought 15 day custody of the 32-year-old Hyderabad-based engineer and told the court that it needed to further probe his alleged ISIS links and required to be quizzed to ascertain the identities of other members of the dreaded outfit and to interrogate him on charges on waging war against a country.

The US-returned engineering graduate was arrested on January 16 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad when he was on his way to Dubai. The police said the Asifnagar resident was planning to go to Syria via Turkey for undergoing training and return to indulge in anti-national activities in the country. He was arrested under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Information Technology Act.
