Warangal: Communist Party of India-Maoist, Telangana committee, has appealed to people to support the nation-wide bandh called by Maoist party central committee on January 26 opposing the upcoming visit of US President Barack Obama to India. A letter bearing the name of Communist Party of India-Maoist Telangana spokesperson Jagan was circulated to media offices in Warangal on Wednesday.

In his letter, he described the US President’s visit as a threat to Indian sovereignty. The Maoist leader stated that Obama’s visit was meant to impose American imperialism on India. Hence all the farmers, students, businessmen, employees and all democratic forces should oppose Obama’s visit, he said. He asked the people to condemn Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s action of inviting the American President to India to attend Republic Day celebrations.

Jagan has also opposed execution of Polavaram project and Narmada project which would displace thousands of innocent tribals. He accused Modi and Sangh Pariwar of implementing Hindutva agenda by safronising of education and attacking minority communities. It may be noted that Maoists in Chhattisgarh distributed pamphlets at several areas in Bastar region of the state on Tuesday with heading 'Obama Wapas Jao' (Obama go back) in the name of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee spokesperson Gudsa Usendi.
