Rajaiah jittery as CM sees red
Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister T Rajaiah who invited the wrath of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Wednesday’s cabinet meeting for having failed to handle the swine flu issue properly is now a worried man. Soon after KCR issued orders to replace Health Director Sambasiva Rao, Rajaiah is said to have rushed to the Chief Minister’s camp office to offer an explanation.
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister T Rajaiah who invited the wrath of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Wednesday’s cabinet meeting for having failed to handle the swine flu issue properly is now a worried man. Soon after KCR issued orders to replace Health Director Sambasiva Rao, Rajaiah is said to have rushed to the Chief Minister’s camp office to offer an explanation.
Sources said that the Chief Minister had disposed of Rajaiah within no time. He then met KCR’s son and IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao at the latter’s chamber and was there for over an hour. Later, he tried to meet Rao’s nephew and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, but failed to do so as Harish Rao had just left for lunch. Rajaiah then hurried to Harish Rao’s house and explained to him about the measures he proposed to take for effective functioning of the department.
TRS sources said that both KTR and Harish sought his explanation on the allegations against him in regard to certain irregularities in the department. They are said to have said that even intelligence agencies had confirmed this issue.
They also wanted to know why complaints of irregularities were coming only from his department. Sources said that there are allegations of widespread irregularities in recruitment of outsourcing staff under NRHM (National Rural Health Mission). As Rajaiah was preoccupied with meeting the top people in the government, he did not go to Gandhi Hospital where the central team had gone to assess swine flu cases.
