Ramagundam (Karimnagar): Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao made a whirlwind tour in the town on Sunday. They inspected the area where the water grid was to be set up in Vemnur village of Ramagundam mandal in the district, utilising the backwaters of Yellampalli Project and held a review meeting with the officials concerned.

If the water grid was completed, Ramagundam, Dharmapuri and another 217 villages falling under Peddapali parliamentary constituency would get drinking water.

Later, speaking to media persons, K T Rama Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, wants to establish water grids to ensure that every house in the Telangana state would get drinking water within the next three years. He said that the grid would be constructed at a cost of Rs 30,000 crore to make the state lush green.

The Information Technology Minister said that the works relating to Madyamaneru and Yellampalli projects were nearing completion and the Chief Minister would inaugurate the Yellampalli project within a few days.

Later, the two Ministers Rajender and Rama Rao inaugurated a plaque for construction of roads in Kukklagudur village of Ramagundam mandal at an estimated cost of Rs 9.15 lakh.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Eatala Rajender said that compensation would be paid to those who were displaced by the Yellampalli Project. He said that while only Rs 17,000 crore was spent for the development of Telangana region in the undivided Andhra Pradesh, Rs 50,000 crore was being spent now for the development of the new Telangana State. He announced that 5,000 women would be given LPG gas connections in every constituency.

The Finance Minister said that subsidised rice was being supplied to 3 crore white ration card holders in the state and efforts. All eligible persons would be covered under the scheme, he assured.

Government Chief Whip Koppula Eshwar, Peddapalli MP Balka Suman and MLAs of Ramagundam and Peddapalli S Satyanarayana and Manohar Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tula Uma and others were present.
