Assures water for next Kharif season

Mahabubnagar: Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao said that water would be supplied for agriculture through the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation (KLI) project from the next kharif season.

Harish Rao inspected the ongoing works of the KLI pump houses at Gudipallygattu and Jonnalaboguda in Peddakothapally mandal on Wednesday. He also spoke to contractors and officials about the progress of lift irrigation works.

Later, speaking to the media, Harish Rao stated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was paying special attention to pending irrigation projects in the state. He blamed the previous state governments in united Andhra Pradesh for the delay in completion of irrigation projects in Telangana. He pointed out that the state government has allocated Rs 325 crore in the budget for completion of pending irrigation projects in Mahabubnagar district.
The Minister said that he would convene a meeting on every Friday with the officials concerned for reviewing the progress of pending irrigation projects.

“Review meeting would be convened with officials on every Saturday on ‘Mission Kakatiya’ works,” he added.
Harish Rao pointed out that the state government has appointed a Special Collector to acquire lands for the Palamuru lift irrigation scheme.

Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, MLAs Marri Janardhan Reddy and Guvvala Balaraju, MLC Jagadishwar Reddy, other officials and people’s representatives accompanied Harish Rao.
